The church is to embrace its new humanity; a humanity where all are brought together under one head. The resurrection of Jesus is the start of a new Kingdom where justice reigns and the powers of darkness are defeated. He is the first fruit of creation. A new world order is here.

What a season. What a team. Liverpool are the 2019-20 Premier League champions - and this is how they did it.

Question for 2020 In what way does my own faith and life embody & give a credible alternative to the things I criticize & condemn in others? The gap between what I criticize in others & fail to embody myself is the root of hypocrisy. Criticism is cheap, discipleship is costly.

The way many evangelicals are engaging with politics and selling out is so grieving. The way many progressives are self righteously acting like “they would never...” is equally as grieving. (It’s like being under Obama with reversed roles) More Jesus. Less pilotical outrage.

We search in vain for the latest programme, product, preacher or podcast to populate our churches & usher in the Kingdom when all we really need is God’s manifest presence in our meetings and his power in our lives. Pastors and products cost money. Power and presence cost prayer

Artists installed seesaws at the border wall so that kids in the U.S. and Mexico could play together. It was designed by architect Ronald Rael. Beautiful reminder that we are connected: what happens on one side impacts the other. 🇲🇽 ❤️ 🇺🇸

Dear fellow-preachers, can we please try to remember that the gospel doesn’t primarily promise self-actualisation / self-fulfilment, but rather self-sacrifice and a life of service for others and Christ’s glory? If this sounds like bad news, we’ve not understood the good news

Jesus is good news to the poor ... and terrible news to the systems that create poverty.

In less than a week we head to Rwanda to spend a week visiting projects, meeting children and seeing the work of Compassion Rwanda. At the end of the week I’ll be running a marathon, to raise money for children…

Then I realized it was not over Scripture at all. It was over sin. It was over power. It was over misogyny. Sexism. It was about arrogance. About protecting systems. It involved covering abuses & misuses of power. Shepherds guarding other shepherds instead of guarding the sheep.

Above all else, we must search the attitudes & practices of Christ Jesus himself toward women. HE is our Lord. He had women followers! Evangelists! The point of all sanctification & obedience is toward being conformed to HIS image. I do not see 1 glimpse of Christ in this sexism.
