This was a big big issue, touching every MI business and restaurant. Just good to see folks put partisanship aside for a bit and work across the aisle.

I think the bipartisan compromise should give us all some optimism here in Michigan, as both Republicans and Democrats came together to make our paid leave and tipped credit laws workable. Nice work @WinnieBrinks @MI_Republicans @GovWhitmer .

With less than an hour before paid sick leave and wage increase were set to take effect, Michigan lawmakers took final votes on a bipartisan deal to change them.

After I saw some of the good that I could do in politics, I decided to begin a political career. I also continued a strong partnership with the Mayor; a strong Detroit means a stronger Michigan.

I owe some of my political career to the legal work I did as an AAG with the Mayor. I helped get an AG opinion written that allowed the City of Detroit access escrow funds for beautification or destruction of blight.

10 years ago we had over 45,000 vacant structures to be demolished. Now we have approximately 3,000! The dedication to removing blight in our neighborhoods has resulted in a safer, brighter present and future for our city! Great work @detroitdemo313 !.

“Vote yes on bills and don’t question whether they are good votes and good for Michigan, just vote yes because we’re losing a trifecta and we need to jam as many terrible bills as possible in lame duck after holding House session one time in the last six months”…. is one hellofa.

These dead bills would make Michigan a less business friendly state, a more expensive state to live, and would push citizens to move away. Thankfully we stood against these bills, fought like hell, and these did not become law.

House & Senate Republicans working together stopped Democrats from passing hundreds of bills in lameduck, including the following:.-$25 billion of new pension debt.-Drivers licenses for illegal aliens.-Garbage, water, sewer & rain taxes.-Subsidies for Hollywood elites.-National.

Wild that Dem leaders never allowed a vote on those bills, as many House/Senate Dem caucus members supported a fix. Those dems know the impact the Court’s decision will have on local businesses and servers. Political miscalculation madness. @ElenaDurnbaugh @MaggieLynnG.

Keep hearing House Republicans shut things down in #lameduck. Huh?! Was always an easy bipartisan fix available!. House Dems could’ve allowed members to vote on HB 6056-57, Earned Sick Time & Tipped Credit fix, the #1 impactful policy issue in Michigan.

@SaveMITips @TheOfficialMRLA @ElenaDurnbaugh @MaggieLynnG @DNBethLeBlanc Strangely enough - Speaker Joe Tate owns this morn than almost anyone. He knows if the bills were to be placed on the voting board, they would pass easily, as many House Dems believed a fix was needed. But he shotgunned the bills and told Republicans it was dead yesterday.

Yesterday’s #lameduck failure spoke to the failure of Dems being able to recognize that working people are struggling in Mich. In Dem world, if unions are happy, then things are great! And the Dems will follow that playbook, even while they lose the House and lose nationally.

Didn’t we just have a national election where young people & working class folks rejected the Democrat party?. Didn’t we just have elections in MI where inflation & economic opportunity were the major issues…and Republicans won on that very issue?. @MIRSnews @GongwerMichigan.
