In 2014, I said I wanted to be judged by one thing, is the population in Detroit increasing? For the first time since 1957, the population in Detroit is officially growing again. I have done what I set out to do. Thank you to my staff and the great people of the City of Detroit.

The professionalism and bravery shown by our firefighters, medics, and command staff on March 31 are the result of years of investment and commitment to rebuilding this department. Since 2014, we’ve overhauled equipment, training, and emergency protocols—and the results speak for.
City leaders, neighbors, and community partners came together today at Adams-Butzel Rec Center to recognize @DetroitFire and EMS crews for their brave response to a recent apartment explosion. Their quick action saved 13 lives, including six children!

Detroit has made two things clear: negligent landlords will not be tolerated and our renters will be protected. Thank you to our Corporation Counsel, Conrad Mallet Jr. and the entire Law Department for this historic win for our city!.
The City is stepping in to help tenants set up escrow accounts, ensuring rent goes only toward repairs.

From Second Ave to the riverwalk, Detroit’s west riverfront is transforming with plazas, a $400M JW Marriott & Ralph C. Wilson Park. The city’s momentum won’t stop!
What started as Joe Louis Arena Station is now Water Square Station—a new name for a new era on Detroit’s west riverfront. This reimagined stop reflects a downtown on the move, connecting people to the riverwalk, public spaces, and a revitalized Second Avenue. @detpeoplemover.

A promise made and promises kept. Today, we are taking down the 8,000th house. By the end of this year, it’ll be 8,500, and the land bank will own virtually no house that needs to be demolished.
