Yep, working in the ICU I get a lot of trauma cases and when the patients are really critical the girlfriends/child’s mother get upset when they can’t visit because they r not considered family, especially if the health care proxy says no visitors.

Same. Witnessed it in oncology and now working in a trauma ICU. Women will fight to stay past visiting hours and want to stay overnight, can’t recall even one instance where the roles have been reversed.

It’s actually not up to me, guest services handles visitation and they have a process of verifying who is allowed visitation and if there are any restrictions before allowing someone up to the unit.
