Giants are linked to SS Luis Hernández, one of the top prospects of the 2026 international class out of Venezuela. He trains at Carlos Guillén Academy. At age 15, he’s already getting regular playing time against advanced competition in @LMBP_ve.

Here is a simple thing to consider for a fan who sympathizes with ownership needing to treat their team as a business. Why should ownership expect both billions when they sell the team and annual returns? Significant annual losses should be acceptable as asset appreciates.

Most ownership groups want to budget to make an annual return comparable to the market, asset appreciate at an astronomical level, the fun and notoriety of owning a team, and get respect from community. Playing defense for mentality as a fan is billionaire ball gargling imo.

OOPSY likes some of my fave offseason targets like Edmundo Sosa, Willi Castro, Jesús Sánchez, Romy Gonzalez more than Steamer. So I think it’s good.

Just perfect that the one year the Giants sign the consensus top international amateur prospect, the Dodgers still end up doing better.

Plenty of evidence for Sasaki going to LAD as far back as last March. Years back for those more in the know.

Dodgers have long telegraphed the high likelihood of them landing RHP Rōki Sasaki in either the 2024 or 2025 cycle. They have 2.5M-2.75M left for the 2024 cycle and 3M-4M left in uncommitted $ for 2025. Wrote this in March

South Africa would be my top pick. Every time I’ve seen their cricket team, it’s jarring how big and strong they are compared to their opponents. Big population, relatively affordable, and a strong sporting culture.

Dodgers have an academy in Uganda, nothing to prevent the Giants from making similar investments. Cricket playing countries (like Uganda) could be fertile ground and in countries like South Africa, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, India also wouldn’t be very expensive.

Most of the Ugandan population has never seen a baseball field. But Armstrong Muhoozi has flourished. The Pirates' new international signing celebrated with a boat cruise on the Nile River. Now, his major-league dream begins. ✍️ @GregPresto.

Just to put a pin in it regarding his name. Despite being written up as Josuar González in today’s press release, he’s officially listed as Josuar De Jesús. So expect him to show up in box scores, FanGraphs, BR, etc with that name.
