It’ll make you a better driver - and do wonders for mental health. People focus on the perceived danger with bikes - but rarely talk about their positive impact on mind, body (and for what it’s worth, soul).
‘The inspiration for the Lotus Elise was the Ducati 916. Both designer (and Ti contributor) Julian Thomson and engineer Richard Rackham wanted the car to feel as close to their bikes as possible.’. @gezmedinger says swapping four wheels for two will make you a better driver. ⬇️

Had loads of fun writing this piece for @theintercoolerx. And one update as of last week - this is what a seized bearing does to a clutch!
‘I set about a rolling restoration that would fulfil the promise underpinning the fundamental design; a long-legged GT interpretation of the Lotus Esprit S3.’. @gezmedinger on how modifications can make or break your car’s value. How has his DeLorean DMC-12 project fared? ⬇️

In my attempt to create a unifying Theory of Everything (Fun) I tried to channel my fellow alumni Stephen Hawking. But sadly my quest for the Nobel Prize for Pseudo Mathematics fell at the first hurdle. (Perhaps unsurprising given that I once got 8%, yes 8% in a college exam).
‘Our joyous discourse, instead of being an intimate one-to-one with a communicative partner has become no more than an epic game of Chinese whispers.’. @gezmedinger explains how electronic systems are clouding the relationship between car and driver. Listen or read now on Ti. ⬇️

And I used to be good at computer games too 😫.
‘If Man Maths: Danger Level was a computer game, my health bar would now be flashing red.’. Is there such a thing as a cheap Porsche 911? Not when Man Maths gets involved…. Read @gezmedinger’s story of 996 Targa ownership – new today on The Intercooler app and website. ⬇️

I have a penchant for buying old sports cars. The joy of it is you really do get a lot of motor for your money. The teeny tiny downside, however, is that it quickly becomes a very slippery, wallet emptying, slope. My latest piece for @theintercoolerx .

We’ve all been tempted by that seemingly cheap 911. Gez Medinger actually went through with it. But then this happened…

The full story of why diabolical first cars’ were a blessing in disguise is on @theintercoolerx (free trial available). Super excited to share, and feel absolutely privileged to be sharing space with the best automotive writers in the business!. 2/2.

Think the teenagers of today have never had it so good driving safe, reliable and fundamentally stable first cars? Gez Medinger begs to differ

If you’re as old as me (half way to 90), the chances are your first car was absolutely atrocious. I was to inherit the Volvo on the left. My brother’s was the one on the right (yes, the one he spun onto the M56). What was your terrible first car?! . 1/2.
‘The Volvo does a full 180 and skids to a halt on the hard shoulder, unmarked but pointing in entirely the wrong direction.’. @gezmedinger on how a rubbish first car taught him crucial mechanical and driving skills – and how modern cars insulate young drivers from the same. ⬇️
