the funniest thing about logo discourse is that it never acknowledges the wider business demands i too like old logos, but why would you want a chain restaurant to be associated with 'old' the logo is not meant to be pretty or nostalgic. it's meant to make people buy the food

@spencerc99 reminds me of the 'four legs of the stool' approach from @remnynt you need every touchpoint to be dialed in, aligned, thought through (audience, work, distributor, etc.). ignoring one as big as the moment it enters someone's hands is terrible

to be clear, the one from the artist was orders of magnitude better. @spencerc99 spencer - handwritten letter, real leaves as packaging, silk / string, etc. gallery delivered - cheap wooden box with duct tape and an invoice inside

in the last week i received 2 works from artists that i love. the difference in care, attention, and thoughtfulness between the one packaged + sold by the artist vs the one by a gallery is night and day. really sad to see tbh.
