@tednsmith and a team from @univgroningen and @HHU_de analyzed twelve alternative pathways to photorespiration and found that pathways that capture carbon showed the most promise. In particular, the TaCo pathway, also used by our colleagues @Crop4Clima.

Our project partner @plantsci recently co-authored a great #OpenAccess article on how the highly efficient C4 photosynthesis might have evolved. 🧬🌿. “These findings might guide the engineering of C4 photosynthesis in C3 crops to improve productivity & resilience.” 💪🌾.
