@GelinMatthieu @ManuelTHERY and colleagues discover that when under mechanical pressure, microtubules can break into densely branched actin networks. Highlight: https://t.co/ukM6EvdvGB Article: https://t.co/9jO7oDT21j

Very proud of Alexandre Schaeffer who defended his PhD with talent. He argued that microtubules do not play a mechanical role in the regulation of centrosome positioning.

@ManuelTHERY @DeriveryLab This might explain part of what we saw on microtubules especially their extreme stability and resistance to cold treatment 😉 https://t.co/sOtWH9x9PJ

Towards building a chemotactic protocell, we reconstituted global actin polymerization in response to an external chemical cue inside giant vesicles — prompting symmetry breaking. We extended the work to recapitulate directional chemical sensing (below). Now on BioRxiv ⬇️. (1/2)

Thanks to the group of @PielMatthieu we found that in the absence of microtubule mechano-stabilisation, ie in the absence of CLASP2, cells can no longer deform and migrate through tiny constrictions.

Microtubules are cellular mechano-sensors. They freeze in response to 10% cellular deformation. Read here the amazing work of @YuhuiLii now published in @NatureMaterials : https://t.co/ZubdUXQH1w

Thanks to the group of Anna Akhmanova we found that the mechano-stabilisation process fully depends on CLASP2 relocalisation from the tip to the shaft of microtubules.
