Trump wants to destroy American democracy. We want to expand it. We must put an end to: – The electoral college. – The disastrous Citizens United decision. – Voter suppression. – Outrageous gerrymandering. Democracy means one person, one vote.

Ranked-choice voting is now the law of the land in 2 states, Maine and Alaska, as well as over a dozen cities across the country. It's about time. #RankedChoiceVoting

THIS IS IMPORTANT - the CDC now says that wearing a mask can protect both you AND those around you from the spread of COVID-19. In fact, CDC says wearing a mask can reduce your chances of catching the virus by 70%! Do your part, #WearAMask.

Wearing a mask can help protect you, not just those around you, from Covid-19 transmission, the CDC says. The new guidance cites a number of studies showing that masks reduce the risk of transmitting or catching the virus by over 70% in various instances.

If we saw the head of the ruling regime, and his party, react to the election results this way in any other country, we'd know exactly what we are looking at. And I'd say here, too, it's time to be honest and say we know exactly what we are looking at.

In addition to the pandemic, climate change, racial injustice, and nursing back the economy, we need to prioritize #ElectoralReform. If we don't fix the way we as a society decide who's in charge, we'll run the risk of losing in 22 & 24 any ground we'll have gained by then.

Another great op-ed, this time from ⁦@steve_vladeck⁩, on how we can bring a little bit of sanity to the elections reporting process.

The random way in which returns were released caused anxiety and sowed conspiracy theories.

Post on polling in 2020. TLDR: projections based only on past voting returns better predicted 2020 results than poll averages in battleground states. I review how we used this to decide to spend in GA, then ask what might went wrong with polling in 2020?

It’s becoming clear that the 2020 polls underestimated Trump’s support by anywhere from a 4–7 point margin-a significantly worse miss than…

Georgia is having a runoff Jan 5 to decide who our 2 new senators will be. If those senators go blue Mitch McConnell will no longer be Senate Majority Leader. You have until December 7 to register to vote. Retweet to spread awareness even if you don’t live here.

Great op-Ed by @hill_charlotte and @leedrutman. Every other year we end up dealing with an unfair and antiquated electoral system, something along those lines would be a great step towards fixing that.

America needs national standards for fair, secure, and consistent elections—but we can’t stop there. We need a nonpartisan Federal Elections Agency to enforce the law. I argue this alongside @leedrutman in my latest @nytopinion piece:

Related, narratives are important. Biden is on track to hit up to 306 ECV w/ sizable popular vote & flipping up to 5 states. Curious to know if we'd have considered the race "close" if we had had this map Tuesday night. 4/4

Media coverage of the count made me uncomfortable. Statements like "Biden inching past Trump" or "is *now* ahead" are wrong/dangerous: the result was already set (votes were cast), it was just unknown. Maybe should only report final tallies in future? 3/4

Intellectually knowing something ≠ experiencing it. We knew about the red mirage & that counting would take time. Despite that, the week was nerve-racking, and it "only" took 5 days. 2/4
