"The reality of archaeological discovery is a far cry from the headlines. Rather than unintentionally falling over amazing archaeological sites & impressive ancient artefacts, the practice...is well-planned, regulated & conducted by highly qualified individuals & institutions"

'archaeologists often discover, unearth, unveil, and reveal both stunning archaeological sites and artefacts, they certainly do not ‘stumble’ upon them'.... Could not have been put in a better way @DS_tone @NMIreland @NationalMons #Archaeology https://t.co/crUqpbMTc3 via @rte

Tradition lives on, in Llandudno, with Codman's Punch and Judy Show on the prom. Over 50 children sat watching; totally enthralled. Established in 1860, it's Britain’s oldest running show & is performed by the 5th generation of the Codman family @seaside_network #seaside #wales

Lean on Me: continues my theme of hill top trees. They've been shaped by the elements but they still stand together. Would you call this a copse, a clump, a tump or a stand? Not a specific place but brings to mind the Nearly Home Trees on the border of Cornwall and Devon.

Lore has it cats make good ghosts. Being notoriously independent, they may decide to stay in their home with you & not cross over. If you have a ghost cat, other cats still on the earthly plane will sense it & start to collect outside your home. #BookologyThursday #Caturday

On the right you can see a 'golden loop' found alongside the Amsbury Archer. And on the left, a VERY similar artefact found within Boltby Scar Fort, North Yorkshire... 🤔 - We draw a lot of lines to Stonehenge - but rarely to northern England. #archaeology #history #stonehenge

A colourful two-segmented woollen sock, from either #Roman or immediately post-Roman Egypt (AD 300-600) - the toes are divided into two sections, so you could wear it with sandals (clearly not a fashion faux-pas at the time...) #Archaeology
