Well, a bit more than a tree. But it’s not a tree you soon forget.

You know you’re a true Lake District local when you can identify an exact spot, just from a photo of a tree… The foot of Wrynose Pass, Little Langdale. Site of an Anglo-Saxon / Viking Ting Mound, believe it or not 🤩

The Queen Stone: A squatter version of the Devil's Arrows, near Ross-on-Wye. Very grooved, probably due to the action of rainwater. It doesn't look it but it is 7ft (2.1m) tall. On private land quite a way from the road, in a field in the bend of the River Wye, at Symonds Yat.

“Cornwall's Stonehenge?” in The Guardian. Seriously? Altogether now: AAAAARRRGGH!!! It’s in quotes but surely this didn’t come from the archaeologists? Such a good project but I despair of the reporting. 1/

When I grew up, I learned about the prehistory of central and northern Europe from a Roman perspective. The Celts and Germans were mere barbarians who invaded civilised Rome and Greece with nothing but destruction in their hearts. From watching TV and movies, it seemed like the

@GrecoPhilistine @Tom_Rowsell I think I can cut it down to 30 mins (from 50) there will be plenty to get stuck into. Much of it will be about beautiful bronze age goldwork. It's really quite incredible stuff.

This small but fascinating stone faces the craggy peak of Roseberry Topping in North Yorkshire. Very little is known about it but the hill is also known as Odin's Hill and has strong Norse connections. https://t.co/5gNNsVPdc7 #StandingStoneSunday, @megportal, @the_stone_club

The Bronze shield this one was made for the Chatterist museum along with a rapier and spear and it proved a massive learning curve . I even repeated the same mistakes that the original maker had made which was mind blowing, hoping to make another one when i recover some more.

A mysterious piece of stonework from Northallerton's All Saint's Church, Yorkshire, UK 🤔🤔 Its tapered top makes me think it's the end of a 'hogback' - a rare variety of Viking burial marker. But it could also be architectural detailing... who knows! #archaeology #3D #history

Hahaha - look at the replies on this! 🫨 This is actually Druids Temple, Yorkshire, made in the 1820s as a folly (i.e. it’s fake). American evangelical paranoia 🇺🇸 👍 #archaeology #history

What do you think happened to people on that flat table stone in the center of this Druid sun shaped temple of monolithic stones with an obelisk standing center right behind it?
