sometimes i stumble upon old screen recordings of our product and get jumpscared. there’s always so much room for improvement. i’m grateful to be continually learning from those around me. the drive to level-up is intrinsic and it’s a gift imbued with joy.

and that’s neither good nor bad! creatives set new trends: expanding the cultural overton window. meanwhile, tastemakers—like editors-in-chief—must have the good judgement to discern wheat from the chaff. sometimes the creative is the tastemaker, sometimes not.

design craftsmanship & taste: as more converges (think linear-esque sites, shadcn), we ask ourselves: what was our intent? was it amplified by creative decision? or eroded by cheap imitation?. designers with taste can influence by highlighting zeitgeist without remixing much.
One of the most interesting ideas is that this can push those with taste (i.e. those with a better nose for quality) to become traders rather than entrepreneurs. You can make more by telling people what is already good rather than making something better.
