Here’s my design for the new passenger access ramp for the Stornoway ferry. Foot passengers can easily climb down the metal ladder to whatever height required (tide dependant) and then just leap aboard the Loch Seaforth.

Every year, our lovely German friends send us lovely German wine. Last year, a £20 excise fee slightly spoiled it. This year, the fee has doubled to an unjolly 40 nicker. I guess should ask myself why I need German friends. Couldn't Brits perform this unsavoury task? #brexitland

Ah, the lesser spotted someone who knows what they're talking about - a rare wader in the debate about whether we should demand that book festival sponsors divest from companies we use ourselves @edbookfest @fossilfreebooks Thanks, @NilsPratley .

@BaillieGifford @fossilfreebooks And the signatories to its wreaking letter should now disclose the top 10 holdings in any pensions they may have, so we can check they're not throwing stones from glass houses.

Please read this. @BaillieGifford has done more to combat the climate emergency than @fossilfreebooks has or ever will.

Column on the vandals and hypocrites trying to destroy literary festivals across Britain. Edinburgh’s capitulation to the cretins is shameful.

Assume signatories won't now sell books on Amazon, from which they want Baillie Gifford to divest, or at Waterstone's, which is owned by a private equity firm. Otherwise, this is empty posturing.

BIG NEWS: Edinburgh International Book Festival has dropped asset manager Baillie Gifford as a sponsor. This welcome news follows calls from 800+ book workers demanding BG to divest from fossil fuels and from companies with links to Israeli apartheid, occupation and genocide.

I would also add that most of AI learns from outdated and prejudiced material. No capacity to learn what is similar fashion to how WIkiPrefused page for female Nobel winner bcos ‘lack’ of 2nd sources AI is trained by existing data to discount women’s value.

Because this has worked so well with e.g. water & sewage companies in England.
