The authors of a new Perspective argue that the deluge of legislative and policy attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts threatens the integrity of the health care workforce and will ultimately worsen the health of the populace. Read the Perspective by Pamela Guerra,

The official death toll in Gaza is over 45,000, but British Palestinian surgeon @GhassanAbuSitt1 says there is strong evidence "the number is closer to 300,000." "This is literally and mathematically a genocidal project," he says.

I’ve largely kept the “ugly side” of removing #race from #kidney #algorithms to myself and a few others. Major kudos to @ushamcfarling for telling the most accurate account of the process that I’ve seen to date. Read more of the fantastic series here >>

Nearly all of the nation’s clinical labs have stopped using race in kidney function equations, but it took years to do so. Kidney specialists recognize that millions of Black patients may have gone undertreated or even denied transplants because of one test. @AmakaEMD

Palestinian children should wake up feeling excited to go to school and play with their friends. Instead, for those murdered in Rafah, their last moments on this earth were filled with unimaginable fear as bombs rained down on their tents. What a monstrous failure of humanity.

Last night, 180 wounded and 28 dead were recorded at the Trauma Stabilization Point (TSP) we support in Tal al Sultan, #Gaza, after airstrikes by Israeli forces hit a camp sheltering displaced people, in a designate safe zone by Israel.

With Dr. Mary Bassett today for @thenation: “We are now again at a defining historical moment as individuals, as a US medical profession, and as a society writ large. There is no ethical possibility of neutrality. We must make a choice…” https://t.co/Intgv5ihV4

Today in @TheLancet: The US health industry is the largest sector in the world's largest economy, and the medical profession leverages massive political power through it. Given this, our silence on US-enabled genocide in Gaza is utterly indefensible. 1/ https://t.co/vr27akspI4

Remembering our colleagues killed in Gaza over the past six months of war. Some of them were killed while providing care for patients or sheltering with their families. Attacks on health workers and health facilities are STILL happening. #CeasefireNOW 🔗 https://t.co/iMVUocZGmI

MSF is horrified that Al-Shifa hospital is in ruins after a 14-day long operation by Israeli forces in and around the facility. Gaza’s largest hospital is now out of service. Given the extent of the destruction, people in the north are left with even fewer healthcare options.
