After 15 incredible years, Feministing is shutting down. While we're sad it has come to an end, we're proud of the impact we had.

Back in my old blogging days a decade ago, @feministing was a place i’d go everyday to learn something new and just read good, thoughtful writing. i’m sad to learn that it’s going away. We should bring blogs back.

@JessicaValenti @feministing I was a high schooler and newly-formed feminist in the early feministing days. I read the blog almost daily on my family’s shared computer. Thank you to you and the whole team for what you put into the world! It meant a lot to me.

Thank you for reading and for this thread!
I’m still bummed (and procrastinating on finals) so here’s a thread of some @feministing pieces that (I think) highlight what a treasure they were for young feminists

Feministing was one of the first outlets to interview me about my abortion storytelling work. Thank you for everything, @feministing. https://t.co/1wwa5SAJFd

Says the guy adding 500 cops to terrorize Black & Latine people on our decaying subway system
This is LONG overdue and the timing is transparent and cynical. With all due respect to my predecessor, we’ve spent six years undoing the damage he created with this bankrupt policy. We ended stop and frisk AND drove down crime. Actions speak louder than words.

Glad to chat with Caren Beilin, whose new memoir (& podcast) raises important questions about the potential health effects of the IUD & how medicine dismisses the symptoms of those who have adverse reactions to the device that aren't readily explained. https://t.co/nNhQ8vKcLT

I'm starting a newsletter. It may evolve in the future, but for now it will mostly just be a way for folks to stay updated on my work. You can sign up (for free) here:

Biden’s response to a college student asking him about his crime bills has it all: the chastising finger pointing (a call back to both Clintons); the offensive ‘some of my best friends/political accomplices are Black’; the condescending “kiddo” & what school do you go to query.

Sorry, I blacked out at about the time that Biden claimed credit for Warren getting the CFPB through. Is he still alive?

I, too, am friends with someone who belongs in The Hague 😌
WHY are we talking about friendships in a presidential debate exactly? I don’t give a shit about any of these peoples friends honestly #DemDebate

Fun fact: if abortion was fully accessible then there would be way more (on account of all the forced pregnancies that happen now no longer happening). This is good! ABORTION IS A MORAL GOOD!!!
Oh no don’t bring safe legal and rage back #DemDebate

This is such a limited understanding of how important this issue is. We don't just need to know that people support abortion - we need to know how they're going to protect access to it.
