People in Gaza want a ceasefire and are not getting our humanitarian relief. If your capacity right now is only for donating, I suggest one of the following: 🧵

Journalists should remember that Israel's first response after they killed their colleague Shireen Abu-Akleh was to say Palestinians shot her. This is part of a consistent Israeli military information damage control strategy in response to such events.

Bottom line: trust in the universe. If it seems to be putting you on a path that doesn’t quite make sense in the moment, lean into the flow. I promise it’ll make sense later. And the good things that come from it will be even better than the things you could have imagined. ✨

There was so much I had to learn quickly about this colossal city. Beyond grateful for the colleagues who supported me, answering my many asinine questions about city bureaucracy. And the lifelong friends made across the newsroom.

NY1 for me is a clear example of why you should always lead with an open heart and mind and trust whatever path the universe sets you on. I never had any intentions of working in local news when I started my career and I was still so new to the city.

One Emmy is for the feature I did on Esther Lee, a victim turned advocate, whose case helped bring about changes at the NYPD after she felt they mishandled her case. The entire ‘Stop the Hate’ special that this feature was part of was nominated as well.

And they’re for an issue very personal to me and that I covered throughout the pandemic — the spike in anti-Asian hate crimes, of which NYC was the epicenter of a nationwide crisis that began in 2020.

After nearly three years, my time at @ny1 has come to an end. I can’t overstate how much gratitude I have for the opportunities afforded me during my time there. In fact, as a parting gift, I walked away with two Emmy nominations!

65 was a very, very good movie. Now I need to know what paleontologist extraordinaire @SteveBrusatte thinks of their depiction of the dinosaur-killing asteroid! (I tore through his book on this which was so vivid in detail it hurt my stomach)

The ruling will lead to an immediate drop in the number of Black and Hispanic students at select schools, echoing what happened in CA and MI after those states adopted affirmative action bans at public universities years ago 😔

Colleges have a game plan, like emphasizing the personal essay, but so do conservative groups that promise to monitor and, if necessary, go back to court.
