So pleased to confirm that I've been selected as the @Conservatives candidate for #Glastonbury & #Somerton in the next general election. An honour to be chosen to stand, I can't wait to keep on standing up for communities and businesses here... Watch this space 👀 @GSCAssociation

Appalling and nonsensical. When trying to address such a dangerous situation, shouldn't justice be shaped to protect victims, not place them back in harm's way?
@HLConservatives Appalling decision by the @UKLabour and the @LibDems .. We know the danger for women who’ve been abused.. finding their abusers are out on the streets because despite being found guilty.. they’ve had a ‘suspended sentence’ Unfortunately, the Govt and LibDems did not find

🗣️Increases to employer national insurance contributions will hit councils directly to the tune of £637 million in 2025/2026. The full figures can be found here 👇👇👇 https://t.co/YP469SjvSq

Final set of photos from today, at the station, when we were still fairly dry then outside Downing Street when we were absolutely sodden but warmed through by the great atmosphere and fab speakers including Kemi Badenoch and Jeremy Clarkson! I do hope Labour listen & u-turn!

Great to catch up with @dawnadenton at #Somerset's Parish Council conference today. Lots of questions still to be answered but a great turnout and interesting conversations #HaveYourSay #WorkingTogether

🚜Today's budget scraps agricultural property relief for thousands of farms. 👩🌾This will have a big impact across the country by making it harder to pass on family farms to the next generation, and reducing the amount of land farmed.

This 🧵 reflects many of the concerns people raised to me of a Labour government. We already knew they don't understand how business works, now it seems they have no clue when it comes to food security and our farmers either. Is it that they don't understand or just don't care?!
(1/4) In response to the Budget, NFU President Tom Bradshaw (@ProagriLtd) updates on what it means for British farmers.

Well said @AlisonHernandez, glad to hear it and totally agree with your reasoning. @JamesCleverly has certainly got the experience and gravitas to lead and invigorate people. More and more people seem to be backing him each day 👍
Good luck @Conservatives leadership candidates, but I'm backing @JamesCleverly: a solid, experienced, firm, fair and friendly person with a sense of humour. I've worked with him as Party Chairman & Home Sec, he learnt UK policing is the envy of the world while he was Foreign Sec

#SomersetInTheCity last night as I met up with @LucyTrims & colleagues from across the country at a @Women2Win evening - kindly hosted by ABI against this gorgeous backdrop. Great to hear from leadership candidates and to catch up with everyone after the summer #AskHerToStand

The impact of this in #Somerset (both the state and independent sector) is something so many people have raised with me. The consultation closes tonight! (15th September) #HaveYourSay if you oppose this tax on aspiration.
Please Share: Do you oppose VAT on independent school fees? Act today - deadline of 23:59 tomorrow. The Govt has opened a consultation on their decision to impose VAT on private school fees. We were not made aware of this as MPs which is wrong of the govt not to tell us.

Good luck @JulianEllacott. I have no doubt you are the right person for the task ahead ☑️
Thank you @fayepurbrick for your support - as one of our top campaigners in the South West, as well as a voice of sense as a Councillor in Somerset, you motivate all of those around you. I look forward to continuing to work with you.

Grateful to @grantshapps for many conversations on defence over the last year. It's been so valuable to be able to highlight the fantastic work undertaken at Yeovilton, the support needed for our armed forces families & veterans, plus the need for the AW149 from @Leonardo_UK

Thanks for flagging this. Sounds concerning. We've pledged to keep the £2 cap but we need the buses for people to use. Discussions needed.

A pleasure to welcome @CornwallTory back to Glastonbury & Somerton. Another day of glorious sunshine out and about around Langport. Thanks to everyone who has already voted and those pledging to do so 👍

I've heard these concerns echoed so many times by farmers and people across Somerset. The damage Labour could inflict on our countryside and rural way of life seems just an afterthought to them but will mean everything to those in our rural areas.

This 👇, exactly this. Worth a listen to hear what's at stake for our veterans.
If you’re a veteran, what’s in these election manifestos for you is important. I don’t understand what veterans in the Labour Party have been doing to result in only two lines in a 136 page manifesto. Veterans care is not my sole responsibility.

Pausing to Remember and pay respect is important. Most veterans will argue however that how a Nation treats her veterans is equally important. I get frustrated by the desperately poor quality questions and level of debate on Veterans’ care. Some good stuff announced today 👇

Don't worry @BBradley_Mans. Even if he does say what he is planning, he'll have changed his mind by next week. The only change Labour will deliver, is their mind (oh, and probably tax increases). Not what our country needs in these uncertain times.
The Leader of the Labour Party hasn't answered one single question tonight about anything he'd actually do, any way that he'd pay for any of it, or anything of any substance whatsoever. He's slated the Government, and dealt entirely in platitudes. He has absolutely no idea.
