One last example I'll bring up is somebody like @SachaBaronCohen who eloquently defends POC, but also made millions starring as West-Asian stereotypes in not one, not two, but THREE theatrical films.

@MenaAdvocacy recently highlighted a report from the UCLA that shows how terrible the representation of West-Asian and North African voices are in film and TV. Would love to see @HertzBarry touch on this -A lot of well known Iranian and Arab filmmakers would 100% chat with you.

@TransplantCTV @josephnkay To follow up on this, this trend is noticed in the USA too where Tehran by creators including @roirona have no actual Iranians writing, directing, editing, DPing the show and they justify it by having some consultants sign off on it.

The show @TransplantCTV is so screwed up when you think about it... It's about a West-Asian refugee told through the lens of @josephnkay and ZERO West-Asian directors, starring a Desi lead-actor playing a Syrian guy... This is an example of colonising stories.
