In the Kingdom of EswatiniπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡Ώ, young cattle-herders team up with honeyguide birds to find wild honey as a sweet snack. We studied how this recreational human-bird cooperation works, and why it’s still thriving. New paper: https://t.co/XhkvLjkWGw

How can we reform science? I have some ideas. But I am not sure you’ll like them, because they don’t promise much.

What hope is there for science reform, if we can't agree on what to reform? Right now, principles are more important than practices.

The package has some key extensions, including time-varying transmission weights, support for complex transmission, a kind of new numerically stable parameterization for frequency-dependence, inclusion of edge uncertainty from STRAND and bisonR models, and other stuff

2/ Olympiad problems are qualitatively different from GSM8K/MATH: - Multi-step, idea-driven proofs - Require abstraction and planning - Answers alone are not informative Despite high MATH accuracy, models fail dramatically when reasoning is evaluated directly.

We find spatial correlation of bin protections, and characterize the knowledge of local SCC (several can open locks!). We also construct a spatially explicit simulation model of two pops of learners to better understand policy effects of coordinated actions to address the problem
