In the next 5 years, Paris is set to overtake both London and New York City in terms of metro length, thanks to over 200 km of tracks currently under construction. In the 2030s, they’re gonna make sure London and New York never catch up again….
@RM_Transit Actually, probably even more than that — they’re already planning the next phase of their master plan (2030–2040). And that’s not even counting the dozens of kilometers of trams and BRTs… truly impressive!

France is very close to reaching 1,000 km of tracks across more than 100 modern tram lines built since the 1980s. Why hasn’t Quebec, which always wants to be Frenchier than the French, followed their example this time?.
The French speaking world has been building an absurd number of trams over the last 2 decades, and yet somehow Ontario with all its delivery problems is going to have five modern tram lines before before Quebec has 1!.

1/5.I see a lot of comments about unions and workers' rights under this post:. In Europe, many lines have been fully automated with ZERO (!!!) protests — despite MUCH stronger unions and labor protections. How is that possible? THREAD 🧵⬇️.
Cost to automate DC Metro - $5.65B. Annual labor cost to run trains - $951.6M. Automation would pay for itself in six years, and we could spend that money on more bus and train service w/o needing a bigger budget. A no-brainer.

Most importantly, it's the world’s only Disney resort served by high-speed rail, with services across France and even to Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands! (And formerly the UK 🥲).The Walt Disney Company paid a significant portion of the station’s construction.
Disneyland Paris has a train station that directly serves the park with trains arriving every 10 minutes or less, while Disney World has a bus that connects to Orlando every 30 minutes.
