Grid scale batteries are changing our electricity system. Excellent new visual story on batteries in FT today shows just how far this technology has evolved. Fasten your seatbelts, this is just the beginning. https://t.co/Xf3EE89ANI

My last column for @CipherClimate: With time, a swinging pendulum shapes energy and climate change
ciphernews.com
The time horizon of addressing climate change and transitioning our massive energy system to cleaner resources is spectacularly mismatched for humanity and its societal pendulum swings.

Texas is the real model for American Energy Dominance. Trump is letting ideology triumph over pragmatism, while Texas continues to show what an all-of-the-above approach to harnessing American energy resources can do for affordability, reliability, and economic growth

Sobering thought going into the weekend.
2010: US and Chinese electricity demand was about the same. 2021: China was 2x the U.S. 2036: At current growth rates, China will be 3x. It's time to start generating. It's time for more solar+storage. The worst thing we could do now is abruptly end energy tax credits.

The Texas Legislature is considering a bill this morning (HB 3356 and SB 715) that would significantly change the Texas power market. What will this mean for LNG exporters? A thread.

ERCOT now projects Texas power demand could triple in 5 years. And yet... the ERCOT CEO says our current market structurecan handle it. ✅ 75% growth is feasible ✅ No need for massive state intervention ✅ Just don’t mess up what’s working 1/3

Texas is the most dynamic U.S. market for clean energy — and for turning homes into virtual power plants. That’s why NRG Energy and Google Nest spinout Renew Home picked Texas to build 1GW of VPP capacity across millions of smart thermostat-enabled homes:

NRG Energy and Renew Home think Texas is the place to use millions of smart thermostats to build the country’s biggest virtual power plant. Here’s why.
