just watched an NBC meteorologist cry on air talking about how terrifying Hurricane Milton is & then the next thing I saw was a woman in the evacuation zone saying she has literally nowhere to go — all the hotels are booked & she doesn’t have a lot of money & has 4 dogs/6 kids.

Even more changes coming near Gaines and Railroad here in Tallahassee as the former Beta Bar/Engine Room/Good Vibes Only building can be seen being torn down this morning. Sad to see it go - had lots of fun times there back in the day.

Feeling very grateful in Tallahassee today. Thanks for all the nice messages. Somehow we didn’t lose power at our house all night and had very little tree debris when we ventured out this morning. Really feeling for the folks to our east in the Big Bend near Perry.

I’d ask everyone to keep this region in your thoughts. The impacted coastal areas, by and large, are traditional, working class, and rural. This isn’t South Beach or 30A. It will break things insurance can’t fix.
Just one model. But gives the idea. Major Hurricane just off the Florida west coast going north. Massive winds to the east. Unfortunately the NHC saying they are possibly conservative showing 120mph peak. Helene will bring major impacts well past landfall. Georgia and maybe some

You might’ve heard about upcoming renovations scheduled for the Tallahassee animal shelter, which’ll result in limited space for dogs. They’ve waived the adoption fees for the rest of Sept. If you’ve been wanting to add a furry friend to the family please consider adopting! (2/2)

Last month, I made portraits of around 16 of the longest staying dogs at the Tallahassee Animal Shelter and they were all the absolute sweetest. The 6 pups below are still available for adoption, along with lots of other amazing dogs and cats. (1/2)
