It happened! Cultural heritage was restored as a Global Goal on Adaptation theme - w ref to local, traditional & Indigenous knowledge as well. This is a win for science & helps put the GGA on a more holistic, locally led & just basis. Thanks to all who did this! #CultureatCOP27
Weโre disappointed to see that reference to cultural heritage (& cities) was dropped in todayโs latest draft global goal on adaptation decision. The critical role of culture in adaption and avoiding maladaptation is made clear in the WGII AR6 report. This is a step backwards.

"We're finding it increasingly necessary to set explicit boundaries about what the design system does and doesn't do. And where we've landed is that design systems handle everything related to common interface patterns." โ @brad_frost

We often talk about design systems as singular entities. "The design system saves time and increases quality." "Oh, the design system provides that." "Update to the latest version of the design...

BREAKING & BIG: California Governor @GavinNewsom has just signed AB2097 which removes parking minimums statewide in transit-served areas. Itโs being called the most sweeping statewide parking reform in US history. @DonaldShoup & others championed it. Well done. #ThePowerOfParking
California is finally poised to lift parking requirements across the state. Here's why that would be a huge win for the climate, writes climate economist @GernotWagner of @Columbia_Biz and Matthew Lewis of @cayimby

A typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/5th of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, & most of the energy that does, moves the car, not people. Sound efficient? HT @circulareconomy

You CAN design and build suburbs to be multi-modal. We just choose not to. This is Utrecht, NLโs suburbs from my exploration a few years back. Thereโs nothing here that any other suburb couldnโt do if they wanted to. Nothing.
