Trees can help each other survive droughts! A new study shows how European beech, Norway spruce, and Douglas fir respond to drought stress and highlights how tree species interactions can influence their ability to withstand drought🌳🌲 @Christina_Hac 👉 https://t.co/21R35i6Zr2

Abstract. Mixed-species forests are, for multiple reasons, promising options for forest management in Central Europe. However, the extent to which interspe

Last week, we met with district foresters from Lower Saxony to present our latest findings. The meeting was hosted by the Niedersächsische Landesforsten and provided a chance for science transfer and to discuss future forest management 🌳🌲 #Enrico

And the next successfull defense is in the books! 👩🎓 @laritopanotti finishes her PhD with a nice talk about the economic implications of tree species composition and structural diversity for European beech stands enriched with coniferous trees. 🌲🌳 Congrats Dr. Topanotti ! 🥳

Congrats to our very own Alice Penanhoat on successfully defending her PhD! 🥳 We enjoyed a very nice talk on individual tree architecture, stand structure and their effects on ecosystem functioning in mixed forests. Enjoy the well-deserved celebration @AlicePenanhoat ! 🌲🌳🛰️

Check out how the effects of forest composition, admixtures and presence of the non-native tree Douglas-fir alter the relationship between rodents and seeds! 🐭🌰 @MittelmanPedro

Ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungi distribute tree-derived carbon (C) via belowground hyphal networks in forest ecosystems. Here, we asked the following: (1) Is C transferred belowground to a neighboring...

Pure Douglas fir on loamy soil leads to highly elevated nitrate in soil solution. But not in mixture with beech! #douglasfir #nitrate Find the new paper by @MrakKlara here: https://t.co/wRUZcmq0gl

Science goes City, a great opportunity to introduce our experiments from the Enrico project. We showed off our LI-COR6800 used in heat sensitivity research; a microscope to inspect arthropods and a high resolution dendrometer. Mini-games and cookies were also part of the fun🤩
