I second this. RCV politics are so odd. It's basically going after the part of voting that people find hardest - figuring out who to vote for - and making specifically that part harder. And the research is clear there is basically no upside to doing this.
At a time when Boston’s Election Department is under state receivership for our failure to effectively administer the 2024 election, now is not the time to make this major change. Our top priority should be to fix the current problems we already have.

Ian Coss @ian_coss had a great podcast about the Big Dig in 2023. Now he has another series, this one about the state lottery. I can't say enough good things abt his work. An absolute treasure to MA, to journalism. It's an education in political complexity and moral trade-offs.
From the team behind the Peabody Award-winning "The Big Dig" comes a new podcast about the unlikely rise of America’s most successful lottery. @GBHNews’ "Scratch and Win" is available now, wherever you get your podcasts ➡️

Heading out this afternoon from freezing Boston to snowy Virginia for this AI event. Among the many topics covered, I'm very interested to think about effect of AI on civic engagement and the role of the mass public in shaping AI policy.
The Ashby Workshops are almost here! A dynamic gathering of leaders across sectors will be discussing AI’s role in shaping our future. It's been a delightful ride into this winter wonderland - we can't wait for the conversations ahead!.

NEW essay by me in Commonwealth (@CWBeacon):. Newton MA recently cut funding for buses to private schools. Almost all families affected, including mine, are in religious schools. Newton's decision is wrong. It should fund the buses. Here's my argument:.

The lovely article about my course at Tufts was the 5th most read article in Boston Mag this year!. (If I had included Karen Read content in the syllabus, it might have been #1).
