Our statement on the 2023 Women and Equalities Committee report on attitudes towards women and girls in educational settings

Gisèle shared her confidence and hope in society’s “capacity to find a better future where everyone – women and men alike – can live in harmony with respect and mutual understanding”.

She made sure to mention the thousands of survivors whose stories are undermined and forgotten, stating that she was thinking “of the unrecognised victims, whose stories often remain in the shadows".

On 20th December 2024, a French court convicted 51 men of the rape, attempted rape and sexual assault of Gisèle Pelicot. One of the men was her ex-husband Dominique Pelicot who was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

It underscores the emotional toll of navigating the criminal justice system, often retraumatising survivors while reinforcing shame and stigma. At the same time, it sends a dangerous message to perpetrators - that they can abuse with impunity.

The Diddy verdict exposes the pervasive reality of rape culture on a massive scale. It reflects society’s ongoing refusal to acknowledge that abuse and power imbalances can exist within relationships.

We hosted our first personal development drop down day. Years 7-9 were off timetable, rotating around four activities with a focus on safety. Years 10 & 11 also had one session with our guest speakers @ei_movement They learned about mental health, anxiety and strategies to help.
