Our latest COVID-19 sequencing results data from Chicago region. Figures both show the same data represented as number of variants per week of collection or proportion of total per week. Only 3 isolates from last week sequenced so far, but BQ.1 is increasing. No XBB yet.

Updated COVID-19 variant surveillance for the Chicago area through Northwestern Medicine. Most recent sequenced specimens were collected March 10. Recent weeks with a larger proportion of Omicron BA.2 and less BA.1. Delta also still making rare appearances.

Chicago-area COVID-19 sequencing update. Most recent test in this data was collected Feb 17. In Dec/Jan we were sequencing ~6 - 10% of positives each week, now increasing again to ~12 - 20+%. Takeaways: 1) Omicron BA.2 not making much headway so far; 2) Delta is still out there.

If the United States ignores #COVID19 in #Nigeria , we forgo global genomic surveillance at our own peril, reports a new Northwestern Medicine study published in @NatureComms. https://t.co/0EcAXHlN9U @RLorenzoRedondo @egonozer

What do you need to know about #stealthomicron? @egonozer, @NM_IDSteward @NorthwesternMed, tells @aarp vaccines will work for the subvariant at about the same level at original Omicron.

Wonderfully insightful commentary from our colleague Dr. Moses Adewumi at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria on our recent publication in Nature Communications. Important context on the challenges and rewards of conducting COVID-19 research in Nigeria:
