This is my draft treatment for the movie And I'd like to remind everyone that all of this *actually happened*, including and especially that scene in London with Thomas Jefferson and the Barbary Ambassador
@johnkonrad The navy should get the guy who made master and commander to make a movie about the Barbary wars; it would be a massive hit

It's important to give Trump shedloads of credit for this, not only for the last year, but also so he's incentivised to do the same with Ukraine If the man wants glory for doing the right thing, then promise him as much glory as he wants
Today was an emotional day for me. And I'm usually not a man of emotion but logic. But today was emotional. Thank you President Trump for everything.

A lot of people have been working very hard to argue that there's no distinction between civilians and combatants and they keep on doing that
Why are Israeli's 'hostages' while the Palestinians are 'prisoners'? #auspol

Contemporary leftism—perhaps it was always so—is a distinctly middle-class worldview. Resentful of the upper class, contemptuous of the lower class, constantly striving for power and status. It’s part of why it integrated into the corporatist academics and careerism so seamlessly
"It was easier to get into Harvard if you were a woman or black, than if you were a poor white boy. "You only need to say that to realise where the manosphere, the neofascists, the Donald Trumps got their umph from." @yanisvaroufakis on how the left failed the working class.

"we don't have a shortage of X, we have a ..." is a massive red flag invariably a sign that the author doesn't understand how shortages lead to many other undesirable things

Pocock is best understood as the personified ego of every Canberra civil servant, and he will argue for more money and status for that audience *remorselessly*
The CSIRO, the agency that gave the world Wi-Fi, among other world-leading research, has never been more important to Australia’s future. Successive governments have failed to invest. We need to turn that around and value the science and scientists that are key to our future.

Oh, so now it's "our" gas eh? If you wanted to buy some of it then you should have said so when I was asking around for customers, but you didn't, so, not my problem buddy
We don’t have a gas shortage, we have a gas export problem. Santos are gaming the system and pushing up the price of gas paid by 🇦🇺 households & industry. We don’t need new projects, we need to reserve uncontracted export gas for 🇦🇺 now! https://t.co/3QYSTCKrkZ

@StuartBDonovan FWIW of all the Australian capital cities I'd probably nominate Adelaide? Not sure. Last time I was in CHC it was pretty awful most regional Aus cities are pretty regrettable, but not sure what the benchmark for "good" is here

In honour of @StuartBDonovan, which city in Aus/NZ has the most run down city centre? *Full list of cities to choose from is at https://t.co/E4KdqeMkEu; write in your top choices and I'll short list the top four for a poll

Are they doing things or are they just talking about doing things Bc last week they screwed around with that 5% down payment brain fart; and that’s just making things worse
It’s simply too hard to build a house in Australia, so we’re making it easier. Because if we want to make housing more affordable, we need to build more of it.

There’s a gap a mile wide between what governments say they do and what they actually deliver Just ask the Brits
If your TV's usefulness depended on the local government annually providing roads, water, sewer, parks, education, sidewalks, police, and fire coverage to the TV, you would absolutely pay a tax to keep the TV serviced every year

If the “Ceasefire Now” crowd is not celebrating this ceasefire, maybe it was never a ceasefire they wanted all along.
