I am so excited about this announcement by @wesstreeting and @uklabour because it means two things have to happen to make it a reality. I’ll explain in a thread…

Interesting see things on other side as a patient today @uclh getting outpatient bloods - hard to navigate to find where to go- touch screen only way to check in, tiny screen, hard to read, unresponsive at times, took ages to do. Patient centred design of services so important

Classic £ baiting & GP bashing headlines Deliberate distractions to drive wedge between patients & their GPs Look at the data 🧐 🔎>20% GP Partners earn <£100k 🔎Nrly all salaried GPs earn <£100k 🔎GP Partners don’t get expenses 🔎Self-employed hrs worked aren’t hrs paid

GPs are being threatened if they don’t reply to an online message within a few hrs. However if we diagnose lung cancer, patients wait over 2 months. Where are your priorities ⁦@NHSEngland⁩ ⁦@DHSCgovuk⁩ - all patients deserve better but this new attack on GPs is wrong

Huge congratulations to our former Chair and President Clare Gerada on becoming a Crossbench Peer in the House of Lords. A lifelong College member and now a Baroness – but first and foremost a grassroots GP who continues to deliver exceptional care to your patients and to fight

The British public is absolutely right, the biggest problem in GP practices is there are not enough doctors. But here’s the scandal: thousands of doctors are unemployed or underemployed. Doctors are ready to work but there is a lack of political will to solve the problem.

There are shortages of GPs because NHS England has failed to fund GP practices to retain, employ or increase their capacity A cut in funding by 20% £/patient in the last 10yr & investing in other roles instead, we now have unemployed GPs who are unable to get work @wesstreeting

Ok Lets talk Covid vaccine. I am a Type 1 diabetic (37 or so yrs and counting) I'm also a front line healthcare professional. Is it not a bit weird that we don't get a covid jab this year? Someone might want to consider an FOI request to determine how thos decision was made..

Important work @LuisaPTG & colleagues. We have lost more GPs, 2300 pts/GP, whilst hospital consultant numbers have doubled with 1000pts/consultant. Truly we continue to have a national hospital service & urgent help to GPs needed @DHSCgovuk @wesstreeting @SKinnock @BMA_GP @rcgp
