I just want to get this message out in the open to the general public. If at all you do visit a hospital , either as a kin of the patient or as the patient, please stop behaving like entitled assholes towards the nursing staff /ward boys/mama / maushis. Have some compassion .

There is actually no glory in missing out on things in life which may enrich it - a holiday with your girlfriend, watching your child take their first steps , spending time with your mates etc. On top of it, most patients never ever respect the personal space of a doctor.

It's the countless sacrifices they make - their health, their time , their relationships, their families, their hobbies, and their youth - to this profession , that may seem too much, often in retrospect. Most non medicos will not understand this aspect of the profession

When most doctors say that they wouldn't want their own to join medicine - it's not that they utterly hate the profession. Infact, many enjoy what they do. 1/2

Given a chance, an Indian citizen will look to spend the least amount of money on healthcare, no matter how rich he/she is. And I am not talking about the poor and helpless. It's these filthy rich entitled buggers who want the best treatment at least cost, with same quality

@RavinderKapur2 That is because Indonesia adopted Hinduism as a national culture perse. Indonesian National emblem today is known as the "Garuda Pancasila" despite being majority Muslim. But it's the Hindus in India that will cry a river if any attempt in India is made as such

For mental health history enthusiasts - "Going doolally" is a common phrase used by the British to indicate someone loosing their mind. It comes from this small garrison town near Nashik. "devlali". It was a military sanitorium and "Tap" is marathi word for fever. "Going

Still remember in my third year he took an entire 2 hour lecture on urine analysis just with a chalk and blackboard. No PPT, no screen. Just pure knowledge. One of the main reasons I fell in love with medicine was because of his rounds. Teachers such as him will be a rarity.

One of the best teachers medicine has had. His grand rounds were a feast to attend. I always wonder how someone can have such excellent clinical skills and knowledge. He must have trained countless number of Top doctors across Maharashtra and beyond over the years.
Sad news. Prof DB Kadam. Passed away last night. All students at BJMC Pune know him as sharp clinician, dedicated teacher and no-nonsense expert in Nephrology and Medicine. I always attended his rounds and Nephro OPDs during my 6 month Neuro posting. Learnt so many things !

Cannot imagine the amount of diarrhea this patient is going to have
Why quackery is bad: BHMS couple running a "Aesthetic clinic" prescribes 20 days of Azithromycin, 30 days of Doxycycline and 20 days of Cefadroxil to a patient diagnosed as "Painful (??) Acne Vulgaris". And you all worried about antibiotic resistance.

One hundred damn percent
There are many experts in medicine who can regurgitate hundreds of guidelines and mention barely noticed footnotes witb brilliant accuracy. But they could not make a decision if you held a gun to their head. They will suggest you hundreds of possible ways to act but they cannot

We need loads of competent and clinically sound radiologists in the country
@Inamanotherapy I disagree. Every speciality is important. Without radiology, many specialists will be blind.

Apparently Vasco Da Gama on his quest to discover India, had sailed to Mozambique and discovered it earlier. That's how the Portugese later settled there Things you learn during Haemat residency 🤣

We currently have a patient of Myeloma who is from Mozambique. I was surprised to find out that she spoke Portugese, which is not a common language spoken in Africa. Turns out, Mozambique was a Portugese colony, and it's one of their official languages.

I have a 5 year old developmentally compromised patient of Bone marrow failure syndrome - whose parents decide to casually disappear for 3 hours, asking the nursing staff to care for him. While this hyperactive child keeps on yanking the Hickmann catheter inserted yesteday.

I am so sorry for posting this small rant, but dire carelessness of parents towards their children boils my blood. And then these parents are the first ones to blame the nursing staff and doctors for anything which could have been prevented by vigillant parenting

Invite full meritocracy and zero socialism in STEM in India and then we'll talk of building spaceships
