My first glimpse of the Vande Bharat sleeper train set - snazzy colours and good design though there's need for some crucial improvements - 3A coach (1st 2 photos), 2A and 1A coach; quality of furnishing and lighting is very good! 🧵 #IndianRailways #VandeBharat @devasissarangi

Another of her well-known inventions was the windproof umbrella, patented in 1924. With cleverly placed slits in the fabric to allow wind to pass through, it solved the common issue of umbrellas flipping inside out during gusty weather. #WomenInSTEM #History . Cont'd. 4/5

Unlike traditional machines that required users to stop and replace the lower bobbin thread, Henry’s design allowed for uninterrupted sewing. This innovation dramatically improved productivity in garment manufacturing, saving time and effort for tailors across the industry. 3/5

#DidYouKnow It was only on August 17th, 1849 that an agreement was signed between the East Indian Railway and East India Company to construct and operate a 161 km long "experimental" line from Calcutta to Rajmahal, to be later extended up to Delhi via Mirzapore. #IndianRailways.

Besides Telugu, I picked up Hindi early and a smattering of Marathi, Bengali, and Tamil. It may not be possible to learn regional languages fully, but one should put in the required effort and respect them. That's the best way to earn the appreciation of the locals. #languages.

In my 53 years of existence, I have spent only a little more than 20 years of my life in my home states of AP & Telangana; 12 years in Maharashtra, 8 years in Tamil Nadu, 7.5 years in Chhattisgarh, and 20 months in Bengal and 4.5 years in the lovely state of Assam. #Language.1/2.

During my 8 years in Chennai, I managed to pick up only a smattering of Tamil, as most of the people around me could follow either English, Telugu, or Hindi. Though my efforts have been appreciated by the locals, the only taunts I receive are from my dad, who speaks fluent Tamil.

A beautiful capture of an XA class shunting loco, probably in the Madras area in 1977, taken by Graham Watkins! A total of 113 steam locos of this class were built by Vulcan Foundry between 1929-1935, out of which 37 locos went to Pakistan after Partition. @somnath1978 @sambitnk

Lunchtime humour - A notorious debtor was spotted eating at a five star hotel by an acquaintance. He asked him "You are eating here? What if one of your creditors sees you here?" . The debtor coolly replied "Are you nuts? None of them can afford to eat here!" 😃😛😂.
