Grateful to have benefited from two impactful @CancerGridIndia initiatives during my oncology residency - EQuIP2023 and @credoworkshop, both of which shaped my approach to quality and research. Thank you @cspramesh Sir and team🙏.

📌 Lessons from our EQuIP 2023 project: .✔ Structured QI works in any resource setting .✔ Stakeholder engagement is critical .✔ Referral criteria help, but follow-up is everything .✔ Measurable change is achievable when teams engage meaningfully.

🌍 This project echoes Hui et al.’s model of “Timely Palliative Care”:.🧭 Screen → Trigger → Refer → Support.🔁 Share & adapt. The ripple effect is real.

🎯 Interventions that worked:.– Training for oncologists on symptom-based referrals.– Defined + displayed referral criteria.– Institutional video to promote early PC referral.– Admin/nursing support for scheduling PC visits.

📈 The Impact:.✅ Centre A (lung cancer):.➤ Referral within 4 weeks rose from 37% → 66%.✅ Centre B (GI cancers):.➤ Referral rose from 30% → 68%.All sustained >60% even months after project completion. 💪.

🔧 The EQUIP Approach:.✔ Root cause analysis.✔ Process mapping.✔ Pareto charts.✔ Stakeholder training.✔ Awareness campaigns.✔ Establishing referral pathways.

🏥 Two institutions, one shared goal:.🔹 Centre A (@OffCMCVellore) – Focus: advanced lung cancer.🔹 Centre B (@CI_WIA ) – Focus: gastric & colorectal cancers.Both implemented QI using the A3 methodology : Plan–Do–Study–Act cycle.

🚨 The Problem:.Despite guidelines, most patients with advanced cancer in India don't receive palliative care early enough. Barriers?.❌ Lack of referral criteria.❌ Poor symptom screening.❌ Low awareness among oncologists & patients.
