Teaching, nursing, midwifery and social work students may be eligible to receive $319.50 per week while on placements. But experts @drdgrantsmith and Paula McDonald from @usceduau and @QUT say more help is needed. https://t.co/Rlie0vIAmW

Every day there is a creator in my TikTok feed spruiking the potential to make $3,000 a month from doing almost nothing.

Would you date someone in an MLM? Laura de Zwaan was recently interviewed by the ABC on her MLM research with @work_industry's @drdgrantsmith

MLMs are divisive because its recruiters often target vulnerable people and lure them in with promises including flexible working hours and the opportunity to "get rich quick".

It makes me very sad to have just discovered that this actually applies to multiple universities and the ones you know of may not be the same as the one I know of.
@AileenMcHarg @SeethingMead Actually now that uni, same faculty, has tutorial classes of 50 as standard, and some tutorials as large as 80

For the first time since I became an NTEU member a decade ago, there is someone running at a state or national level who I am confident has the interests of regular university workers in mind, and who I want to vote for. Read this interview with @a_kanjere and vote for @ANewNTEU
Every year, job conditions for university workers worsen, the result of course cuts, job losses, rising casualisation and spiralling workloads. Now, activists in the National Tertiary Education Union are gearing up to fight back. https://t.co/weYMWQ0PN6

How are unpaid internships still a thing in the EU institutions? The fact that someone has a compulsory internship as part of their studies does not in any way invalidate the need for an income. What about students that have to finance themselves? #payyourinterns
😢Time to say goodbye to our trainees. Thank you 🙏 and best of luck in the future! Every year, we offer 💯 paid traineeships, 20 unpaid, and up to 6 paid traineeships for trainees with a disability. Applications open: 15 February More info: https://t.co/7Zi638KadL

So, what is it called when your FOMO is both entirely justified and realised? I think I have that because 2 of my favourite people are lunching in Sydney while I am in Brisbane.

People who are pro-unpaid internships argue students aren’t there for the pay but for the “experience.” Unfortunately, you can’t go to your landlord and pay rent with experience or go to the grocery store and buy food with experience.

Doing one unpaid internship is no longer enough. Now you need to have two or three of them. This leads to: 1. Socioeconomic filter on who can take these opportunities. 2. Those who are not well off are forced to take out a loan to cover their living expenses.
my jaw dropped reading this unpaid internship listing that expects interns to have worked 1-2 similar internships...job market is an absolute clown show right now. what???
