Psychologists (+ psychiatrists) really need to get across the evidence regarding mood disorders, etc., due to C19 neuro/bio-physiological impacts including brain damage; NOT just (flippantly) (mis-) diagnose ‘anxiety about Covid.’. Be good to see professional bodies step up CPD.
COVID & Depression. A new study (Ogando et al., 2025) shows how residual SARS-CoV-2 in the brain may contribute to depression and anxiety in post-COVID condition (PCC). The mechanism involves IL-6-induced activation of monoamine oxidase (MAO), which disrupts neurotransmitter.

The EAP business model has them firmly entrenched as the ambulance at the bottom on the cliff. And they aren’t generally equipped to go upstream, even if they tried. They have a place in the risk matrix; it’s much smaller than their fees and impact would have most PCBUs believe.
#EAPs aren't keeping up. Young workers face phone anxiety and outdated access modes. If EAPs aren't aligned with #psychosocial regulations, are they just patching the cracks? Time for support systems that focus on prevention. #OHS #WHS #mentalhealthatwork.

Can I say something? I have a BA in psych, a BPhil in linguistics, and went to grad school for cognitive psych. My research, including an undergrad fellowship, was on the cognitive relationship between written and spoken language…. Audiobooks are NO DIFFERENT than reading print.

Interesting to note #WHS will be a legitimate defence to the new statutory tort on #privacy, in a similar fashion to EEO/Anti-Discrim law. Add the WHS defence suggested for #intrusivesurveillance as a #psychhazard (Comcare CoP) and privacy test cases could get ‘pass the 🍿’.

Adding a layer to this - #psychopaths know the difference between right and wrong, and they understand rules. But they consider themselves a member of an elite group to which these rules do not apply. They’ll even loudly preach to others that they must obey the rules. #DarkTriad.

It’s a Gas Lighting 101 tactic. #DarkTriad types actively sabotage others, because they cannot have anyone being successful around them; it hurts their damaged ego too much. Then they get extra pleasure out of sticking a boot in. They ‘elevate’ themselves by diminishing others.

No - your job is to be psychologically & physically fit to practice - so you help, not harm patients. Harm is a direct outcome when burned out and or experiencing compassion fatigue. The evidence clearly shows the prob ISN’T medical professionals not being *tough* enough.
So troublesome to see so many young doctors complaining about how hard the job is. Your job is about taking care of patients. It’s called dedication. It’s called devotion. If you wanted an easy life, you should’ve chosen something else.
