Clear from this archive that smoking cut across the social gradient in a way it doesn’t today. The progress we’ve made has not been evenly balanced between our most economically and socially advantaged and the least. Surely that’s the goal now 🙌🏼
#OnThisDay 1962: As a Royal College of Physicians report linked smoking to serious health problems, the BBC hit the streets to find out what the general public made of it. Several smokers seemed somewhat unfazed.

I found out today that the Irish for "freckles" is "póigíní ghréine". The literal translation is "little sun kisses". Isn't that just beautiful

This sheep escaped a farm and spent 6 years in the mountains, during which time he grew 60 pounds of wool. Wolves tried to eat him, but their teeth could not penetrate the floof. You don't have to turn hard to survive the wolves, just be really, really soft and fluffy.

Powerful narrative highlighting the excellent service provided by #CUH and how prompt recognition and management of #stroke can not only save lives but hugely impact on post stroke morbidity.
Roger is from Cork. He is 17 years old. He is finding this lockdown boring. It means he can't train or play with his soccer club, Douglas Hall, nor his GAA club, Nemo Rangers. Roger's lazy Saturday afternoon is about to change in a dramatic way.

We are bottling our sanitiser today. Aberdeen Royal Infirmary's Intensive Care Unit got in touch to tell us that they out of sanitiser. So we are delivering to them, for free, this afternoon.

Much as I love the “free drinks for NHS staff” and local take aways delivering food for us, can we maybe please start to think of those made unemployed recently or who might struggle to feed themselves and their families just now? Direct energies to food-banks and shelters?
