I profiled Azzi Fudd. After all the injuries and doubt, and dealing with that as her life became more and more public, here's a story of getting back to once was — mentally, physically — then becoming even better:

Injuries and self-doubt nearly derailed a prodigy. Now in her final college season, she has rediscovered just how good she can be.

I also didn't realize, until I had already spouted off this unoriginal take, that @alex_kirshner was way ahead of me and spouting it better. So listen to his recent @SplitZoneDuo podcast (and also subscribe, if you aren't already):

Okay, I expanded on this thought in a newsletter, which led to me furiously typing about why you should care about how my Tulane-obsessed in-laws take in college football. Indulge me for a few minutes, if you will:
I am aware of the whole what have you done for me lately concept. But it’s crazy how many of these G5 takes are about maybe making one day better — or one GAME better — without acknowledging that a good playoff system should make the whole SEASON better. At least to me.

This account of how the Trump admin carried out a once-unthinkable overhaul of government in 2025 is based on a year’s worth of messages and interviews with more than 1,200 current and former federal workers. Please read from me and @MerylKornfield.

For my latest, I explored the 17-year lawsuit between a Trump official and his Tallahassee interior designers, which had twists and turns that astonished experts who reviewed the docket. Here's a gift link:

So @dougherty_jesse went on a road trip near the Mississippi and then well into Mississippi, and then he wrote this beautiful story of vividness, contempt, meaning and even the evocative thought of a cemetery within hearing distance of a college football stadium.
OXFORD, Mississippi — A man in a Santa outfit smoked a cigar. Next to him, a "Geux to Hell, Heaux" sign hung on the side of his tent. It was a day of subtext, Lane Kiffin-themed. And the home team won big in the end. https://t.co/AvOmXhWPnT

And, like, Ohio State trounced Oregon last year, right? It happens! It’s okay! And I will now retire from public life.

Great work by @dougherty_jesse from the scene of the blowout in Mississippi:

Thanks to @AlexMcDaniel, among many others, for welcoming me to their tailgates and into their lives throughout the day, for sharing their family stories, etc. There was a lot of Lane Kiffin on Saturday, but not every emotion was attached to him. https://t.co/AvOmXhWPnT

I’m Damon Brooks Jr., a paraplegic in D.C. I’ve faced repeated caregiver negligence—sleeping on duty and missed care—that put my health at risk. People with disabilities deserve safe, attentive care. Please share, RT, and like.
A D.C. man who uses a wheelchair says nurses and aides are sleeping on the job when they’re supposed to be keeping him safe – and he says he has the video to prove it.

This really bums me out, though I'm extremely excited for everything @ByVarunShankar has coming. Whatever fan base gets him as a beat writer next will be one of the luckiest in sports.
My last day covering the Wizards and with @PostSports will be Dec. 31. Leaving for a new opportunity (TBA). Im excited for what’s next but sad to leave — I loved working at The Post. I grew up with its sports section. The local beat writers were my idols.
