Showed my kids (6, 10) the Jungle Book - original from 1966. First time I'd seen it since I was a kid. A few thoughts: -A great example of how story beats spectacle every time - both kids liked it a lot, even after one commented on the substandard animation compared to the CGI

My 5th grader just told me they're teaching 'show don't tell' in school. What has the world come to?

This is even more brilliant than it seems at first glance. Because the 'surf dracula' idea is a pretty lame one. It's a bubble gum premise with no teeth that should obviously never be made. But today, they are more likely to try to make it for the reasons stated - to ascribe

You can't make this stuff up. Lastpass - a company that exists solely to help us log in to websites - doesn't let me log in. The screen is blank and just sits there, with the logo in the middle of the screen. The brilliance of modern tech continues to shine.

So, I think it's a great premise. And an actual original movie. However, this trailer makes it seem as if the story veers into the absurd, which is the problem with pretty much every movie these days. Still, I might give it a chance for the first two reasons.
The first trailer for Sam Raimiās new film āSEND HELPā has been released. The horror thriller follows 2 co-workers who hate each other but get stranded together on a desert island after their plane crashes. In theaters on January 30, 2026.

I took @mcahogarth's Book Recommendation Quiz and discovered my reading archetype. My top book match is 'A Rosary of Stones and Thorns' with a 90% match! https://t.co/cgEE0ETbW8 But because I want to rebel against recommendations, I might do the second rec instead.

Time to think about baseball.... All four remaining teams are division winners this year. No wild card teams. I think I like that.

What a shock. The new Tron movie makes the protagonist love all the great things that AI can do. Not being too subtle in our preaching - I mean storytelling- these days, are we boys.

The more stories like this I see, the more convinced I am that abandoning the agent search was the right move. Now if I could only get incompetent amason to unlock my account.
It was ten years of almost Almost agented Almost a contract Almost good enough And then it was a yes, and it was edits and book covers and author photos. And now I was supposed to have ARCs in my hands this month. It was almost a book. Almost everything I ever wanted

Putting it out again. If you have a book that is sci-fi, post-apocalyptic, thriller, or some combination of these - I am ready to buy and review three indie books.

What a huge loss. She was outstanding in the Godfather, especially the first one.

In the film Idiocracy, one joke is that scientists waste all their talents and resources trying to help men sustain erections and similar pointless exploits rather than solving real problems. In so many ways, this film is proving quite prophetic. Scientists are now using AI

Even though Zon is illegally preventing me from launching my own author career, I still want to work with other authors as well. I'd like to start reading other indie authors and writing reviews. I'll take 3 published books - sci-fi, post-apocalyptic, thriller, or convince me.
