And it's really satisfying to look at the lineage block and see how similar the "family" looks, just based on the genetics assignment. This is the most fun I've had in a long time, doing something creative.

I still find it remarkable that my game takes a B&W outline and turns it into these infinite variations. Honestly it feels magical.

I added pawpad colors to the babies and it's now my favorite thing ever. (Well, and the little tooth.)

Got some historical swordsguys at the last club meeting (HEMA peeps) and it was fun to talk about small sword. Young dude eager to explain the grabbing with your offhand was in fact a thing, and me silently taking notes for the next duel I write.š

Number 1 thing I notice about The Hobbit now that I'm re-reading it is that it's very obviously written to be read aloud. It has oral-history-like styling, which is recognizable if you know what you're looking for (and who Tolkien was). But it reads oddly to moderns.

Re-reading The Hobbit for the first time in ages which I think is my least favorite of the Big Three (LOTR and Silmarillion as the others). I'd only just read the Silmarillion for the first time a few years ago and loved it to pieces. Like reading Bulfinch's Mythology, but with

Do I not talk about my books enough? Should I do that more? People tattoo my art on themselves, write in my conlangs, compose music and poetry about my settings, do live-reads of my series together. Do you need more evidence? My work takes you to other worlds.

I didn't think it would take four and a half hours to implement inbreeding checks but hallelujah my clan now observes genetic and social moresš¤£

I don't think people realize how long I've been in this business (and survived at it). But hey I'm here. Talk to me anytime. :,
@esrtweet @Devon_Eriksen_ I continue to suggest that this debate is not debatable because not all the facts are in evidence. - you do not know how many people are failing in KU because KU failures don't discuss their numbers - you don't know how many people are failing outside KU because they also don't

Just put in the inbreeding check mechanism and unfortunate things were discovered 𤣠My poor clan. No wonder they have so many troubles.

Why using AI to code stuff does not mean 'let it do whatever and it comes out fine' -_-

Itās horrifying that this is a thing at all. Weāve come a long way from Reaganās emergency team responding to his joke about āI hope youāre all republicansā with āMr President, today weāre all republicans.ā I want honor back.
Politics have no place in patient care. Today at my local infusion center covered by VA community care, a new RN, who was assigned to me, came over, no greeting, no warmth. Just: āWhat arm do you want?ā I tried to make the moment human. I asked how her day was going. Her

Frustrating coding day yesterday so I decided to work on clothing assets instead. I'm not sure how I want to handle the file set-up (anticipating lots of clothes!), so this part is seriously 'just do it and figure out what doesn't work for you along the way.'

I did laps, danced, and did common household chores in a weighted vest to simulate being a light gravity world native in a heavier gravity environment. (Takeaway: wow do you get tired just standing there)
What's the funniest bit of research you've ever done for a WIP? Probably a toss up between crawling on my knees in a long dress to confirm it can be done, and trying to recreate catacombs in my house #writingq #WritingCommunity

Other people: "You should be writing fiction that maximizes your ROI!" me: "I am working on a workbook that will teach people to an alien language by tracing the calligraphy! plus it will give them better penmanship in english"

Honestly, the thing no one likes to hear is 'the old ways don't work because circumstances are no longer the same.' Selling creative work is one of these things that has been through so much technological shakeup that even five years ago, the way your peers made a million dollars

My most useful question lately: "Is this opinion facts-based or vibes-based?" Important: vibes-based is a *valid* answer. You can't treat it like an inferior one. Vibe are basically a gut-level check, where your conscious brain hasn't caught up with something you've observed.
