I'll mostly be hanging out on Instagram and Bluesky from now on. I love this creative, supportive literary corner of the Twitterverse, just not Twitter as a whole. You can follow me on https://t.co/AkNJ4miXHi and/or

Delighted to be part of Poetry in the Park. Such a wonderful idea. If you're Cork in the next month, see if you can spot some verse. I hear Gerry O' Sullivan Park might be a good spot 😉🌳. Big thanks to @HowlWriting and @poetryireland for making this happen.
Poetry on public display!🙌 Poetry in the Park features twelve poets published in @HowlWriting. The poems are now on display in six Cork City parks through the end of March. 📜🔍Want to go on a poem hunt? Learn more here: https://t.co/noMzUTyiaH Supported by Poetry Ireland

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to everyone at @PassengersPress. I was a very green poet with only a couple of published poems under my belt when they took me on as a reader. Goodbyes are always bittersweet, but happy pub day and thank you to everyone in the winter issue!
It’s official. Our last and final Issue of Passengers Journal is live. To our readers, staff, and contributors: your endless love and support for our mission means more to us than you could ever imagine. Thank you 🖤 Happy reading and listening 🤍: https://t.co/GvuC9AOGzV

Is anyone else writing poems with absolutely no assurance they will ever be read or wanted? Could we give each other a shout out here just to say there's a road ahead? 🚦

Today I missed my train, realised I have to rewrite my WIP draft from scratch. slipped on stairs, missed an @IronAndWine gig to get X-Rays that showed I broke my toe, got yelled at by the Uber driver for 'walking slow', and left my house keys in the other coat. How was your day?

This remains. "[T]he role of the artist is to transcend conventional wisdom, to transcend the word of the establishment, to transcend the orthodoxy, to go beyond and escape what is handed down by the government or what is said in the media." -Howard Zinn

Editors: when you’ve had time to mourn, I want to see you move every BIPOC and queer submission to the top of your reading pile. Then *buy them.* Publish them. Fuck the celebrity books. Fuck performative mswl lists. Actually BUY them. Give me faith in something. Have courage.

@AuthorKOrtiz Me. I want all the risky books. It’s the only way I know how to fight back.

"This is PRECISELY the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write... That is how civilizations heal." In these wordless hours, a lifeline from Toni Morrison worded 20 years ago:

The world is an even more depressing place this morning. People of colour, minorities of all sorts briefly had a moment when we could pretend we were equal to those who have always held power. But not anymore. Better a rapist than a woman of colour?

Nothing was hidden from US voters, not Trump's crimes, dementia or fascist tendencies; not Project 2025 and the horrors it will inflict on women, minorities and the world economy. Americans voted for hate and extreme-right policies; it was an informed choice. That is terrifying.
