Experimenting with Twitter alternatives. I’m on https://t.co/NzcbnB03NH at https://t.co/4OWd9nZa7f, and Mastodon at @dfeldman@mastodon.social. Interested to see how these things evolve and how/whether they can capture what I missed about Twitter even before the current insanity.

OMG Apple. Was excited about iCloud Shared Photo Library finally getting us out of Lightroom but now...so the *photos* are shared but not the *albums*. I take our photos & sort them into albums, and then my wife gets them all in a big pile and has to make her *own* albums. Why?

Sad news, everyone: we'll be shutting Miter down. It's been a fantastic experience and we learned a lot, but ultimately disproved our core hypothesis about meeting software.

OK. Unless I'm missing something, Apple's new iCloud Shared Photo Library has the same albums between your personal and shared libraries, but different photos in each(!?). You've "My Album" in both libraries, but with completely different photos in each. Can someone explain this?

C'mon Apple. You make laptops with 10h battery life and there's no way to tell them to sync photos unless they're plugged in? It's not much of a sync if it only works when all devices are plugged in and on WiFi. "Sync" means I don't *have* to plan ahead to ensure I have my stuff.

This switch might be the best cautionary example I've seen to illustrate why designers need to be careful about confusing *action* with *state*. Does the current position represent hidden? Or does flipping the switch hide the thing?

I'm always confused by how many security-focused folks are opposed to subscription-based software pricing. Security isn't something a developer does once and forgets about; it's an ongoing task. So wouldn't it make sense to pay for it as an ongoing service?

Came across a trending article suggesting that product designers might want to learn about Human-Computer Interaction. Confused—to me this sounds like suggesting to doctors that they learn about Medicine. Have the disciplines diverged that much? What am I missing here?
