One interesting language shift after the recent deal with the Kurds is officials now reference Kobane alongside or instead of Ayn al-Arab. In this clip, Col. Mohammed Abdulghani repeatedly says โKobane,โ even as the questions twice insist on Ayn al-Arab (as does the outlet๐)

My favorite bit is to explain some policy if the Soviet Union with "Khrushev did it" vs without telling that Khrushev did it and seeing the reaction.

People literally hold the opinions at the same time that Khrushev was bad for invading Hungary bc he was Khrushev and it was imperialism. But the Soviet Union as a collective entity was right in invading Hungary bc Hungarians were all fascists and it was anti imperialism.
