I gave it a try, but uninstalled @Podman_io Desktop today as it is not the drop-in replacement it claims to be. Too many issues that cost too much time to work around while it just works with @Docker Desktop.

"Microservices first" indicates that the person advocating that idea isn't thinking like an architect. No single architectural pattern is appropriate in all contexts. An architect will first identify the essential system characteristics and then pick an architectural pattern with

In software development, complexity is very often admired. It's not uncommon to see overly complex architectures chosen for trivial apps. In the long run, simplicity and flexibility are the safest bet as they allow you to better evolve your project based on future technical

Protip: If you want to become a better software developer, you should study the source code of the frameworks you are using. Not only will you get a better understanding of how they work, but you're also going to learn how design patterns are applied in practice.

Why do JavaScript devs reject filled forms if you paste into them? Why do I have to press a key and backspace? Are they stupid?

Design Patterns is a wonderful book. Yes, I know, it's thirty years old. Yes, I know it uses older languages. But it's still great. Some folks have said that the concept of Design Patterns is out of date -- that those patterns were just workarounds for the bad languages of

TIL about @testcontainers JDBC. What a nifty solution! πͺ When combined with the powers of @springboot configuration sources, it keeps your test classes clean, no more dealing with containers. See π https://t.co/pCTLOPakzc

Apparently some people are surprised that you can run a 13 year old self-contained Jar on the latest JVM. And thinking about other language ecosystems, it is actually pretty freaking amazing and not something that we talk about enough.

The most important advice you'll ever get: There's No Free Lunch. When you write software for a living, you must understand that you always make trade-offs. There's no unqualified "best" language, library, or algorithm. Your decision will always give something away. You give

What I love the most about software engineering is that this stuff just never gets boring. Learned tons of new things just this week, and there's so much more. It's like a game with an indefinite number of levels, you'll never be able to fully play it through.

I like the "don't do this" but "do this" examples, makes it very clear ππ»
An Enterprise Architect suggested that to take any Architecture proposal seriously it should have a logo. So, here it is π https://t.co/GqCx9ntCbH

I really like the "It is not the fault of the runtime artifact style βmonolithβ that your code has become unmaintainable." piece.
new blog post discussing why microservices won't solve the big-ball-of-mud or time-to-market issues many companies hope it will do if done without also changing org, processes and mindset: https://t.co/p7ggghnqCB. new tech does not fix non-tech problems. enjoy if you like ... ;)

This was the first serious computer I used. Here, I learned to program using Basic and Turbo Pascal. The Internet did not exist back then. I learned from a pirated book that was falling apart. We live in an incredible time for anyone who wants to learn software development.

Perfect. It has never had a business model except ripping off artists. Canβt implode soon enough. ππ
With Spotify itβs not just a bad year - itβs now worth only half of what it was the day it went public. Pretty much matches what itβs done to the value of recorded music in that time
