My Dad is in a nursing home full time and between what we are paying with fair deal it's almost €1,400 per week. We have to pay €70 on top for activities. And that doesn't include haircut, chiropodist etc.

Something I haven't heard a lot about is that nursing homes, on top of the fair deal and the resident paying up to 80% of their income they are looking for €70 per week for "activities". They are charging people with medical cards being sent for respite this fee too.
