@DrJingLiu @ShyamoliSanghi @StanfordEd @TeachFX Spoiler: we're working on those directions ourselves, e.g. by embedding automated feedback into instructional coaching to provide scaffolding and ensure that the tool is not an "add-on" to teachers' full plate.

@DrJingLiu @ShyamoliSanghi @StanfordEd @TeachFX However, the impact of the feedback did not trickle down to other teaching practices, and teachers reported lack of time and support to take full advantage of feedback. We describe promising areas for future work to extend and deepen the impact of such tools! ๐ฏ.

@DrJingLiu @ShyamoliSanghi @StanfordEd @TeachFX We tested the impact of automated feedback on focusing questions with 224 Utah math and science teachers in brick-and-mortar classrooms. After just a few times of receiving feedback, treated teachers increased their use of focusing questions by 20% (p<0.01).

Honored that our work on supporting high-quality math tutoring with AI got cited in the Economic Report of the President! ๐ Hope we will see more widespread application of tools that seek to empower teachers, not replace them. Kudos to @rose_e_wang!

Educators often report the effective structuring of lessons as a key challenge. Can LLMs help by parsing lesson structure and generating insights to educators and platforms? ๐ก. Check out our work with @rose_e_wang Kenny, Pawan and @lateinteraction!.
Everyone talks about AI tutors replacing humans. But can AI even follow a real tutoring session?. Introducing POSR: The first framework & dataset spanning over 24,300 mins of real human tutoring to evaluate if AI can truly understand structure in conversations! ๐ฏ

First randomized controlled trial testing the effectiveness of a human-AI collaborative approach to tutoring led by the amazing @rose_e_wang! ๐ฉโ๐ซ๐งฎ . Rose is on the job market, let her know if you know of any opportunities -- any place would be lucky to have her!.
AI has the potential to transform real-world domains. But can AI actually improve outcomes in live interactions?. We conducted the first large-scale intervention of a Human-AI Approach that has statistically significant positive learning gains w/ 900 tutors & 1,800 K12 students.
