On January 6th, I hid reporters in my office because police couldn’t get them into the safe room. We used a special knock so we knew they weren’t insurrectionists. Anyone trying to whitewash that day is lying. It was violent. People feared for their lives.

There is nothing patriotic about what is occurring on Capitol Hill. This is 3rd world style anti-American anarchy.

The January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol was one of the darkest days in our nation’s history. Today, we honor those who were injured and killed by a violent mob incited by Donald Trump and his allies. We must never allow this shameful day to be minimized or rewritten.

@Tyler_Menzer Don't get me wrong, it matters and its more economically efficient, but it think the P2 approach is way too complex to justify the added revenue. I proposed a simpler approach earlier last year. https://t.co/YdStiLnZur

Abstract At the end of this year, the tax rate on Global Intangible Low-Tax Income (GILTI) is set to rise at the same time as the expiration of the individual provisions of the Tax Cuts...

For a variety of reasons, the U.S. actually does a better job, even at a low 10% rate, of using individual income taxes to tax billionaires than some other nations (⬇️from @gabriel_zucman) A, say, 2030 G20 goal might be for other nations to achieve at least this 10% rate. 2/2

@simonw @geoffreylitt No, we really don't need this. We don't have ways for presidents to say "I really didn't write this speech", we don't have this for laws, policies, CEO quotes in press releases, multi-authored papers in science with 100s of contributors most of whom never even read it, etc. This

Pillar 2 silver linings: (1) US didn't walk away completely from P2 (2) No GILTI/NCTI push down (but watch out, that will be the next US whine) (3) Other nations can still replicate US BEAT to show the US what extraterritoriality really looks like https://t.co/khaIeE6ODO

The two most likely options are Trump forgets all about this and doesn’t appoint anyone to “run the country” or a 20 year old SEC College Republican takes spring semester off and Trump appoints him to be interim Governor of Venezuela.
Trump on Venezuela: We're going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition.

Yeah I don’t think “one of billionaires has, out of the goodness of the hearts, signed a legally unenforceable EA pledge” solves mass unemployment or gradual disempowerment.

There was a longstanding tradition of not naming things after Presidents while they were alive or active (let alone in office). It was a good tradition.

@joshelman Thanks for engaging. I have always supported a modest wealth tax since I first ran in 2016 to support healthcare, childcare, and education.

Peter Thiel is leaving California if we pass a 1% tax on billionaires for 5 years to pay for healthcare for the working class facing steep Medicaid cuts. I echo what FDR said with sarcasm of economic royalists when they threatened to leave, "I will miss them very much."
NEWS: Larry Page and Peter Thiel are making moves to leave California by the end of the year to avoid a possible billionaires tax that could hit them where it hurts. With @RMac18 + @hknightsf. https://t.co/VyYtHPRdYQ

@martin_casado I appreciated your support and sorry you feel that way. I have supported a modest wealth tax since the day I ran in 2016. I believe one can have a pro innovation progressivism but I respect you may disagree.

It's a matter of values. We believe billionaires can pay a modest wealth tax so working class Californians have the Medicaid your party cut. Texas ranks near last in healthcare, education funding, and worker protections. Meanwhile, we still have an $18 trillion innovation
Please continue driving all the job creators out of California. If anything, 5% is too low. Why not 50%? Texans are enjoying the prosperity!

I don't care what Bari Weiss was thinking. But as someone who moved from Russia to America for freedom, I didn't have "passing around a pulled 60 Minutes segment like Soviet-era samizdat" in 2025 on my bingo card. Anyway: watch what our government is doing, and share it widely.

This is nonsense. I’m a Christian libertarian, but my atheist libertarian friends fully support private religious communities in which people can live according to their own values. Pagan groypers want to use state power to quash those they hate. Nuts to pretend they’re the same.
Pagan groypers and atheist libertarians pose the same kind of threat to a healthy conservatism—one from the left and the other from the right. Stay the middle course!

In this video, you can watch Border Patrol cause an accident with a US citizen, refuse to help him, and then ultimately arrest him for asking for their insurance. They locked up him, but then released him with no charges. Again only because he had video.
The New York Times obtained videos showing how Border Patrol causes accidents, lies, and arrests people for absolutely no reason at all. This is dystopian.

The irony of JD “immigrants are stealing all our jobs and buying all our houses” Vance calling out “zero sum thinking” is really something.
Nicki Minaj said something at Amfest that was really profound. I'm paraphrasing, but she said, "just because I want little black girls to think they're beautiful doesn't mean I need to put down little girls with blonde hair and blue eyes." We all got wrapped up over the last

He was married to a Us citizen and arrested at his green card appointment. His family says his health deteriorated because they would not give him the right diet to manage his diabetes. Rest in peace and may the bastards whose neglect killed him face justice.
A Bulgarian business owner who lived in Chicago for decades and was arrested during an immigration enforcement 'blitz' has died while in the custody of ICE at a private prison in Michigan, the ABC7 I-Team has learned. https://t.co/nV0dSV3ald
