The PM was repeatedly booed tonight by the community that feels it was most let down by him and had the wisdom (or perhaps had it explained to him) not to speak at the vigil. Is it possible that he will have to consider his position?

There's a line in a democracy that, once crossed, changes everything: when elections cease to be an obligation and become a variable. That line has now been crossed in Britain, and it's the state's own elections watchdog saying so. The Electoral Commission has been explicit:

it's really simple. The cheques you wrote on their behalf began bouncing.
I genuinely cannot understand how generation above me ended up here. We grew up idolising David Bowie and through him discovered Lou Reed and Iggy Pop. We lived through punk and post punk smashing gender norms in public. We watched Prince blur masculinity and desire. We danced to

maybe the Irish government could send some M&S meal deals?
I raised the hunger strikers in Britain, I urged the Tánaiste Simon Harris to use his influence directly with the British Government. Qesser Zuhrah is now on her 47th day on the strike, action is urgently needed. Protesting genocide should not be criminalised.

or they could just choose to eat something
A doctor close to the Palestine Action hunger strikers spoke at the live press conference this morning. "The hunger strikers are at imminent risk of irreversible damage to their bodies, and of death. It's imperative that David Lammy meets with them and their representatives."

right, but the enormous difference is that there wasn't a sense that the PM had pandered to the very ideology that prompted the attack. We were under no doubts what Arden was seeking to do about right-wing extremists. But here...
Decent Kiwis didn’t blame the Ardern government when an Australian terrorist killed 52 Muslims and wounded many more. Instead they rallied around a Prime Minister seeking to unite not divide New Zealanders, and their Parliament overwhelmingly supported tougher gun laws.

time for the same courage now from our own pollies.
What happened at Bondi Beach was an atrocity, but words of solidarity are not enough. We know the evil we face. Islamic extremism is a threat to western civilisation. It abuses our democracies and subverts our institutions. It is incompatible with British values. It is not

I don't know which is more entertaining - the ridiculousness of the original idea or the manic triggering of so many by it who can't live in a world where Trump gets to feed his self-aggrandisement and they can't stop him.

'We need to stop these hate marches.' Tory leader @KemiBadenoch blames 'Islamist extremism' for the rise in anti-Semitism, and she thinks it's time to admit that.

Britain is a place where one should know how to host the flag properly.

You can’t propagate a particular form of ethno-nationalism that delights in neo-Nazis swanning around in HH jackets and now suddenly want to lead the vanguard railing against the perpetrators of tonight’s atrocities. I think our Jewish friends call that chutzpah.

Antisemitism has traded in lies, hate and violence for centuries. When it appears in modern day Australia it must be named, resisted and rejected. Antisemitism—whether from the far left or far right—has no place in Australian society.

I am Catholic but grew up mostly in Sydney's eastern suburbs, wherein Bondi Beach & much of our Jewish community. I wrote this in May 2024 to try & alert my fellow Gentiles to what our Jewish fellow citizens were suffering. 🕎
Very grateful also to the Adelaide Advertiser @theTiser for publishing my article on Australia's Jews & their enormous contribution to Australia and the worrying failure of so many critical institutions & alleged "leaders" of them, to denounce the anti-Semitism now in our midst.
