If we keep using DSM, this is a great idea. We see WAY more autoimmune, rheumatoid arthritis, POTS, fibromyalgia, long COVID, etc at @AcaciaClinics among our ultra treatment resistant folks than I ever suspected.

Viewpoint: The DSM-6 should include an inflammation specifier for major depression to improve diagnosis, treatment, and research.

New precision results out - scalp-based targeting in transcranial magneitc stimulation yields highly reliable outcomes in multisite use. Better target engagement when incorporating e-fields. collab w/ @mmadore @Stanford_PMHW and others.

First off, this is a huge deal as this is the first time that anyone has really convincingly shown that any kind of TMS can actually keep people better. In short, we treated a group of depressed people with SAINT TMS (5 days of intensive, personalized TMS). Those who got better,.

We've known TMS and SAINT can get people better, but can we keep people better? Yes! We found that re-treatment (guided by proprietary algorithm) can very effectively keep them better! . What'd we do? 🧵.

"I have an idea! How about we maximize shareholder value by extracting it from the terminally ill??" Is an apparently common conversation. To the surprise of no one, private equity and publicly-traded companies are really bad at running hospices, even worse than other for-profit

Very cool! Pain exists between the brain and the rest of the body. I wonder if something could be done to stop chronic pain from developing?? You know, like, in the brain?!.

Huge news! CMS (aka the folks in charge of Medicare) agreed to pay an actually reasonable amount of money for SAINT (the 5-day intensive TMS treatment for depression we provide). While the contexts are still quite limited (e.g. @AcaciaClinics doesn't count), this is an absolutely.
