"On the feasibility of #glacier preservation" - the title of my World view just out in @NatureWaterJnl https://t.co/7iVDbFc8OU Simple take-away: No, we can't preserve glaciers artificially at larger scales! But yes, we can partly save them by limiting CO2-emissions.

The amount of data that are inaccessible, despite the push to open science, is mind-boggling. Some data availability statements are almost laughable and would be better stated as "These data are not available". Let's do better.

A great report on Tipping Points came out earlier this week: https://t.co/fkNPZ4oP9L. While tipping points like those observed on parts of the ice sheet do not affect mountain glaciers, growing glaciers takes a lot longer than losing them.

Fantastic talks regarding the challenges and impacts associated with various overshoot scenarios, highlighting that once the cryosphere exceed a given temperature threshold, it locks in glacier mass loss and thus contributions to sea-level rise. Highly recommend watching!
