This is amazing. Ever since I heard @balajis talk about the pseudonymous economy, I've been thinking about how to make it easier to start a YouTube channel with total privacy. Recent advances in deepfakes, AR and CV will make this as easy as a click. You won't need a 30k suit.

A lot of the apparent slow down can be described as the slower discovery of emergent behaviours. (No think step by steps anymore). Once you run out of pre-training data, every new capability has to be engineered manually (multimodal pairs, data / env curation). Things will change.
This feels like an increasingly accurate description of the public reaction to new frontier models. In truth: progress is not slowing down. Each successive delta in model intelligence is just useful to fewer and fewer people.

yes, more people should train models.
i'm increasingly convinced that "transformative ai" is going to look like an abundance of specialized models for everything from drug design to weather sims to robotics to supply chains, not one agent to rule them all. we're going to need a lot more ai researchers.

X is finally focusing on their ad product. Current spaces with the ads team: Grok is being integrated into the ads platform, improved personalization and so on. this could be interesting. .
Not doubling down on ads is a stupid mistake .When advertisers tried boycotting Facebook, they tore earnings the next day. Because every SMB to big co runs ads on the network. No singular reliance unlike Twitter . If your ad platform delivers, no one is going to change platforms.

Update. Canada should look at Indonesian nickel policy to move away from raw exports.
Indonesia won't export raw nickel. If foreign companies want access to its commodities, the refining has to be done domestically in Indonesia, so that there's a technology transfer as well as a $ transfer
